How can I help?

  • Through storytelling, I can help you figure out who you are, who you’re talking to and how you’ll reach them by taking you through a proven process. Whether you’re building a new brand, flexing an existing one, or getting into other product categories.

  • Copy feel like the least important (and yet also scariest) thing on your lengthy marketing to-do list? No problem. I write clear, concise conversion copywriting for your website or blog. Bonus, it’s in your tone of voice, easily found by Google and loved by your audience.

  • Your name is one of your greatest assets. So... it’s kinda worth getting it right. But if you’ve ever tried to name a brand or product, you’ll know how tricky it can be. I can create unique naming and nomenclature for your brand, sub-brand, products, services, pets...

  • Developing a distinctive, consistent tone of voice is as important as your colours and logo. I’ll build and stress test a robust tone of voice guide that sits alongside your visual brand guidelines, to help your team and agencies talk like your brand.

  • Maybe you know what you want to say. But you’re struggling with how to say it. I’ll make sure your long copy sounds like you, and works for your audience, with a spruce up that follows your brand’s tone and style guide.

Who is Killer Poet, anyway?

Killer Poet is me, Kate Phillips – a copywriter and creative thinker based in Auckland, New Zealand – and working with people all over the world. I write copy, name things, tell stories and generally use the power of words to make the right people love your brand.

I work with design, digital and ad agencies – and directly with clients – when they’re trying to make the world a greener, more equitable place. I’ve had the good fortune to work on 200+ brands, including Vodafone Australia and New Zealand, Air New Zealand, Rest Super, KiwiBank, Fonterra, Blunt, ecostore, thankyou and the Sustainable Business Network, and wa-a-a-y more.

As much as possible, I go paperless, work remotely, meet virtually and offset my carbon. And when you work with me, I donate 2.5% of every project to plant native trees with the Ngāi Tahu Māori Rock Art Trust.
